2008 Fairbank RoséFBNK 08 Rosé.jpg

Gilles Lapalus, Winemaker Sutton Grange Winery

Very pale pink vermillon with light copper hue and peach skin colour. Very good limpidity and good brilliance.

There is good intensity with a fresh and fruity (peach, tropical) group of aromas. The second nose develops into more fermentary (yeasty and nutty) and then floral notes. The development of aromatics continues with mineral hints, some spice (cinnamon) and fresh almond. The overall impression is fresh vegetal and fruit. The first impression in the mouth confirms the aromatic notes. The mouth feel adds another dimension, soft and round, balanced by a refreshing and integrated acidity. Aromas develop well also in the mouth, with the fruit (peach) and more fresh spring notes (fresh grass, floral). The overall sensation is quite dry and savoury, with a good length supported by the vivacity.

2008 was a good vintage at Sutton Grange and the early picking allowed us to elaborate this delicate rosé, with light colour, intense aromas and textural mouth feel. Very much in the style of 2007 with more floral and fresh notes, this is again a perfect 'all season' aperitif and also very appropriate on the summer table. Dry style, fresh aromatics and low alcohol, give this wine a very high drink ability.
