2012 FAIRBANK ROUGE

22.00

Thirst-quenching young reds, made with a minimum of fuss and no - or very little- oak ageing, designed to be slurped from tumblers outside a bistro on a warm summer's evening. Try it with garlicky mushrooms and brusty baguette.

Intense red, bright, with medium limpidity

Very good intensity, on the first nose, and amplified after aeration. First impression is primary fruit (red berrys) followed by more fermentary and reductive notes. The fruit odours show some strawberry and cherry, and are followed by floral nuances
(iris, violette), with small presence of spice.

Light on the first impression, very fluid, medium body, fruity aromas and good texture supported by fine tanins. From the stems we get some aromatic vegetal and spicy notes complementing the overall fruity impression.

2012 is a great vintage for this style of wine, with great fruit character. First vintage where we have only syrah, this Rouge is a good expression of early pick syrah fermented  whole bunch to increase the fruity notes and balance the acidity. This wine is an everyday drinking beverage on the lunch table, or with a 'charcuterie' sandwich.  Designed to be consumed in its youth, a few years in bottle will soften the tanins, and make it a refreshing red in summer.
